The IDP is a tailored personal development plan, usually used for high potentials, co-designed by the associate and line manager on a yearly basis, with the purpose to maximize performance and support the associate’s career development within BMW. It involves two-way feedback, clarification and discussion about developmental needs, goals and plans. Associate’s developmental needs could then be identified based on a comparison of skills required by a given job and current obtained skills.
In the IDP, along with identified development targets, corresponding measures within the upcoming year should also be specified with timelines in order to realize the development target. IDP is integrated with portfolio process which will also be kicked off in October or November. It will be implemented in the following year and reviewed by the end of the year.
